Hi All,

Just enquiring about the minimum time required from an international flight to connect onto a domestic flight. I am looking at flying into Sydney on Singapore Airlines at 7.40am and wish to connect to a Qantas flight to Alice Springs that leaves at 9.40am.

As there is only one flight a day i cant miss the connection.

Any help greatly appreciated.

At that time of the day I wouldn't attempt a 2 hour transfer at Sydney

I agree - this is just too tight. SYD requires a transfer to the domestic terminal - that alone can take 20-30 minutes once you leave the international arrivals hall.

+1. Your arriving into SYD with peak hour arrivals literally flooding the arrival hall. Arrival the night prior would be preferalbe.

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

Virgin and Qantas bookings will normally mean loss of tickets for cancellations less than 24 hours or no show. SQ and CX on the other hand have been much more forgiving with less than $200 in charges though they of course aren't obliged to put you on their next available flight. I would therefore probably take the risk if doing the flights in reverse, particularly in J/F on SQ.

Actually in this case departure the day after might be better.

To the OP, don't even try it. If one slight thing goes wrong you're stuffed.

Very good suggestion actually.

Allows for being not so Jet-lagged for the Red Centre, which is breathtaking to say the least.

I agree that 2hrs on separate tickets is not advisable. Why not go via ADL and put the domestic flight with VA on the same ticket as SQ? It will be cheaper than buying it separately (and certainly cheaper than overnighting in SYD) and you're protected for any delays. Not that you'll likely need the protection as the connection is not tight in ADL. But stranger things have happened!

Ok, thanks for the advice i just thought it would be ok on a Sunday morning as they are the flights that webjet had selected.

Not to put too fine a point on it I believe you have summed up the problem yourself.

'Webjet.' My experience is simply don't use them.

My recent INT to DOM experience at BNE says 1.5 hours from time seat belt sign goes off on arrival aircraft to get past security at DOM terminal. Maybe 1.75 hours to get to aircraft door. But of course I was in business coming in so was one of the first off the international plane and I had an express lane card at quarantine and my connection was on the one ticket meaning that if the QF flight got in late, Its the responsibility of the airline to get me to my final destination. Your itinerary does not have that protection.
And SYD INT to DOM by transfer bus will take longer than BNE because the road is terribly congested and its further away.
2 hours is not possible at that time Sunday or not because flights schedules are more or less the same every day. What if your SQ flight is late?. (Though SQ tends to be very punctual). As the flight to ASP is once a day suggest overnight in SYD or fly via another airport

To be fair, WebJet won't allow a booking that does not meet MCT .. Just like Qantas
