Three days ago I did 2 miles redemptions in a row, for AA flights within a week of each other, a few months off.

KIN-MIA-LAX ticked within an hour. The other (and my first redemption and the first flight in order), BDA-MIA-KIN has yet to ticket. Miles are in my account.

Would non ticketing in 3 days be usual? What would be usual?

If non ticketing within that 'usual' time frame, what type of contact would I make to follow up?

If it's all on AA metal no real need to worry about ticket deadlines - they can always create award inventory on their own metal if they fail to ticket. If it's a partner the deadlines are a bit more pressing and I'd be following it up.

If you are concerned, call general reservations, they'll retrieve your booking and send it off for ticketing.

On the 31st, I got an e-mail saying miles had been deducted from my account for the non-ticketed flights (and they had). I thought it odd that the flights still hadn't been ticketed by yesterday, so I called. No problem, said the agent, its in the queue.
