Late last night I received an e-mail from QATAR Airways to tell us that 2 of our 4 flights from Singapore to Barcelona and then onto Perth in Sept/Oct have been rescheduled. The time changes are only around 35 minutes so no big drama. However, this afternoon I also got a e-mail from Scoot - who we are using to get to Singapore to obtain the "special" fares originating there - telling us that our one-way flight has also been rescheduled. We had allowed for a three day rest before taking the QATAR flight so connections are not a problem.

Unfortunately the Scoot flight has been moved about 2:40 hours back which means we are now due to arrive in Singapore at about 01:35. I had paid a little bit extra to get a "free" flight change but for the flights around that date the extra fare, not change fees, are more than the night in the hotel we will mostly waste. So serves me right for trying to snare a bargain.:)

An 0135 will have you in your hotel about 3am at the latest. Compared to midday or 2pm if you didn't take the hotel? So I'd say still worth it regardless of the flight change. Sitting around for 10 hours when you're tired isn't fun :(

With 3K exiting PER-SIN at the end of March, I was looking at moving my LCC flights over to TR.

However, with an erratic schedule and some PER-SIN flights arriving at 02:25, it looks like I will just have to stump up for SQ.

That hotel room will look and feel like a million bucks at 3am:)

Thanks to all of you - I agree, at my age, I have no intention of not booking in to a hotel after the flight. Even a few hours sleep is better than none.

Pleb Status - I hadn't realised that 3K were pulling out - I must have missed that news. For this one way flight we went for Scoot over SQ just for a laugh and to see what ScootBiz was really like - I have no great expectations but at least the extra legroom should be nice for my long legs. With this change of time Scoot has not endeared themselves to me and I would be loathe to book them again with that sort of arrival times..

Our last couple of SQ flights Per - Sin have been pretty ordinary. The A330's we have been on recently were very tired and worn inside, more like some of the old MH planes than what I would expect from SQ. And, the FA's on our last flight were very poor - grumpy and unhelpful.

I have had no issues with the SQ service. The problem is they can be expensive sometimes and I have become accustom to a nice weekend away in SIN on 3K for under AUD220 return (using the PBG off TR).
