Is anyone else a member of the Wine Gallery? I have joined recently - 3 bottles a month for $23 a bottle (price does not vary) and $9 postage.

Interesting concept (they match your palettte based on a survey, you score the wines each month, they change the choices based on feedback).

Their Facebook advert popped up on my account.

Any idea of the quality of the wines? The regular postage will hurt.

That was my thinking - It's a Gen Y (or Z?) type thing for people who are just discovering, and don't care to do their own research.

I am definitely not Gen Y (or Z!). I signed up because of the pedigree of the CEO (ex somm). Not that impressed so far with the first three wines but now after my reviews i am waiting to see what they pick for batch two. Will give them three goes and if no good i will then unsubscribe.

Everyone needs to start somewhere. And you can do all the "research" you want, but until you actually drink some wine, it's all theoretical. At least this tried to marry preferences to wine, but I suspect they have limited sources, so you're just going to get random rubbish just like most wine clubs.

Very true. Even the best research is theoretical compared to actual tastings, and development of the palate over time.

I was fortunate that I had an uncle very into wine, so was exposed to some good drops at a young age. For many others the journey starts later in life.

Tried one pack and 2 out of 3 were pretty ordinary. Been getting wine from Different Drop and Wine Decoded recently. I kinda find the match wine to your palate questionaire a bit of a gimmick. Seriously you'd have to try 100 wines for them to get an idea of what you'd like and then your tastes change! Both Different Drop and Wine Decoded seem to be more focused on make sure you get a good wine at street price.
