Seeking expert comment on using Frequent Flyer points
Details:

Hi,

We're writing a story for our travel page on the value of Qantas Frequent Flyer points and we're looking for someone who can comment.

Among other things, we'd like to know:

– Are they worth it?
– How to make them work for you
– Who really benefits (can the average person ever make them worth their while?)

I'm sure we can come up with some generic comments.

Are they worth it? Oh if you fly alot.
Ultimately the airline benefits because they make money from the points.
The ordinary person needs to carefully consider what they expect to get and how long it will take to get there. 8000 points for an economy MEL-SYD flight is going to take 40 weeks if spending $230 at woolworths weekly. Only the individual can decide if that's worth it.
