A friend of mine recently gave me an old printed Qantas timetable, from 1959! It's an amazing bit of history to look at and as you are the only people who would appreciate something like this I thought I would post it here. It's in pretty good condition for being over 50 years old!

Here is the cover (note the timetable fold in half)

When it folds open:

The middle spread (I had to merge them together as it was too big for the scanner)

I have to admit to being a bit of a sucker for nostalgia at the moment. Thanks for sharing Nick.

I can imagine Mr Cholmondley-Warner* reading the passenger information page.....particularly the section entitled "Women".

I love seeing stuff like this, has anyone got photo's of the old sleeping berths? Here I was thinking skybeds are a recent thing...

Amazing pics and thanks for sharing :)

I knew AFF would appreciate something like this! My other friends would just go Meh!

Unfortunately I had to head out so I will upload the rest tonight. There are the fare prices which I think you will find interesting!

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

Thanks for sharing.

Interesting to note that under Service Information; Qantas Airlines = EM

Interesting to see how many (few) airlines listed in the second pic ave survived

Edit: and how few QF routes

I was waiting for this ;)

One of the reasons for decline in routes I guess that they dont need to go to certain places due to increased ranges for aircraft.

There are some great photos of the old planes (including the sleeping births) up at the Rose Bay RSL. I'll take a photo of them when I am next there.

+1 Thanks for posting this entertaining & nostalgic info.
Flying would have been something quite special in those days.
Just wish I was around then to experience the bests ways of yesteryear. :D

I love it when you groan about flying to New York and an older colleagues says I had to go SYD AUK NAN HNL LAX NYC 36 hours! And dressed in shirt and tie in Y.

Haha

Wow,

The flight times and how many place they stop.

A perfect schedule for my fly direct when you can connect.

The only bugger was one flight number.

Great for status runs.
