The National is another SPG luxury collection hotel. It is a Le Meridien but doesn't advertise that widely now.It certainly has the premier position-just across the road from the Kremlin.A lot of history with Winston Churchill staying there and more recently Pres Obama. Also in the photos was one Kostya Tszyu described as a Russian boxing world champion.
Not cheap-about $400 a night. It was absolutely full with a couple of wedding parties.Unfortunately we didn't get one of the older rooms facing the Kremlin but did get upgraded to a spa suite.Had room 331 which was on the 5th floor-just as well they told us.

The bed was quite high and not much room around it.

The sitting area.

A hallway which incorporated a work desk and a walk in robe area.

A large and well lit bathroom.

And the tub which could take the 2 of us except that it was so high it was difficult to get in and out of so only 1 could use it at a time.We both have bad knees, any worse and we could not have used this room.
Breakfast was included in the rate. Also the currency exchange at the hotel had exactly the same rate as any other-but they wouldn't take $A.It seemed few would.Staff were very efficient and the front desk friendly and helpful. One of the bell boys though was quite surly.
Yes it was expensive but we enjoyed the stay and it was perfect for us as all we really wanted to experience in Moscow was Red Square and the Kremlin.

Looks a little too old world for me, though I guess most hotels there would be.

It's a little "traditional" for me too, but cheap at that price!

The Ararat Park Hyatt, my usual Moscow digs, is much more modern, but keep in mind that the $400 a night paid by drron is the tip of the iceberg in the world's most expensive city.

I’m sorry, I could only pluck "old world" from my brain this afternoon, but "traditional" does make more sense! :D
