Hi all
Finally prompted to post this to see if I have exhausted every option in my quest for what I would term the ultimate headphones for my use.
Just some background. The majority of my usage of headphones is in order:
- on a noisy train
- in my garage watching TV on the iPad whilst I iron
- on aircraft
I connect my headphones to an iPhone and an iPad.
What I need is a set of headphones with Bluetooth capability, voice connectivity that works and some form of noe blocking or noise cancelling. I also would prefer small/discrete.
What I have tried in chronological order are:
Ultimate ears super fi - good noise blocking but not Bluetooth and the wires failed fairly early on
Shure 200s (ish) - ok noise blocking but not great
Jaybird freedom (first bluetooth) - awful BT connectivity, terrible fit (had to buy some ear buds to go over them) and terrible battery
Backbeat 906 - better BT but pretty bad fit and stopped charging up after a month (they did work again a year later for some reason)
Sennheisser MM100 best BT so far but no noise blocking - they sit on the ears. They would have been great for my son if I hadnt left them in a hotel in Delhi
Backbeat 906+ - better BT than the 906 but still not a great fit and the train noise overwhelmed them completely
Sennheisser MM550X - horrendously expensive. Great noise cancelling. Great BT but they are active noise cancelling so they sit on the ears so look pretty dorky walking around town (not as bad a Dr Dre) and can be quite warm
So has anyone got another suggestion? I don't know whether my ear canals are a weird size or shape and that is why I don't get good noise blocking...
I love the Bluetooth though!
Any thoughts (apart from I questioning exactly how much I have wasted on headphones....)
