While the benefits are designed to entice, it honestly doesn't seem that great, especially the 'free upgrades' that are basically of the same level offered if you attained Platinum two years in a row.

Can I ask what are the extra benefits for year on year plat requals - more that year one plat 'benefits' ........... cheers

As alluded to in the article, don't you get 4 'free' upgrades each year you maintain Platinum with VA? Thus 2 years of Platinum = 8 'free' upgrades, which is the same that you get from The Club (8 in 24 months)?
 
Cheers ......Just checking ......but you are right it is 'light on' - given the volume some of the 'Club' people would funnel ......
 
My neighbour's wife was given membership. In her case it's not due to spend but social status. As a result, he uses it all the time (likely much more than she does) and says they always upgrade him to J; the upgrade limit doesn't seem to be tightly enforced.
 
Virgin Australia can request access to two private rooms hidden within the Star Alliance Los Angeles first class lounge

I hope the private rooms are nicer than the LAX 1st lounge - or is it just me, I was totally underwhelmed.
