HI everyone, on separate tickets, I have a thai HKT to BKK flight and then a EK BKK to HKG flight on the same day. Does anyone know if Thai will interline to Emirates, and if so, how does the immigration work at the BKK end because I will be on separate tickets. Does it mean I need to check in for the EK flight before I get to the coughet airport for this to work if they will interline?

Thanks

In all honesty, I don't actually know if Thai will interline with Emirates given the bookings are on separate tickets, but you may have some joy in getting the bags checked through to HKG when you check-in in HKT. It is however a domestic ticket (HKT-BKK) so doubt that Thai would actually do this. Someone else may have more info here.

My guess is you will have to pick up your bag in the domestic arrivals area and then check it back in through EK in the international departures area. Not really too much of a drama unless you have minimal connection times.....

There's no guarantee they will check baggage through. If luggage is checked through there is a transfer area in BKK you can use.

I have lots of connections to/from PG flights in BKK. They're not very punctual and do not check luggage through on separate tickets. Baggage in BKK can take up to 1 hour. I don't feel comfortable with anything less than 2-3 hour connection. TG might be a better option but I have not tried them yet.

Thanks for the reply John K. I have 2 and a half hours between flights so its no great drama if they won't do it, but would be nice to save the hassle. Am in J on BKK to HKG leg so that will help too with exiting immigration
