Texas music

I am spending a few days in Texas over the new year period driving from Dallas to Galveston and wondered if anyone could suggest a music venue, perhaps in the Austin or San Antonio area, where I could enjoy some good country music, more in the older or traditional style, to appeal to an Aussie with a seniors' card (who's still a bit of a boy at heart)?

My friend (from Austin) suggests a music hall in the town of Gruene (small town closer to San Antonio). It's actually called 'Gruene Hall' (I googled it). Might be worth having a look at.
