I posted this in the Adelaide Taxi disruption thread but heard today that our State Govt charges taxis $6000 for Insurance that in Vic costs $1200. THAT is gouging.

I believe that is part of the annual drivers licence (well the CTP equiv to Vic TAC) fee.

Maybe Taxi Drivers in Adelaide have more accidents than in Vic??

Just the usual 3rd party accident - not comprehensive. It covers all passengers and third party injuries.

That would be Transport Accident Commission insurance for anybody injured or killed in a motor vehicle accident.

My 2016 rego and TAC came to approximately $800 of which $510 was TAC.

For a taxi registered in a high risk zone the TAC charge is $2586.10 including GST.
