Hi,

a family member has a nanny employed in Oz ( both Australian citizens ) and needs to go to the US for a 2 week work trip and is thinking of taking the nanny, anyone have experience with this?

Would both just apply for ESTA or could the employee/employer relationship be a problem at US Immigration?

Thanks in advance.

No it won't.
Nannies and au pairs are common in international travel (and to/from USA). They independently need to also be eligible for entry on their own passport (but that's obvious). The Au pair is not seeking employment.

Have colleagues who have done this over the years travelling around the world.

(I'm assuming that the other half knows about the nanny)🤣

Maybe we shouldn't presume that.

Possibly not. But if she/he is travelling with her/his boss without the child/children then she/he isn't really on a business trip, as not travelling in his/her capacity as an au pair/nanny, but rather on a holiday as his/her boss' bit on the side in which case is a vacation.

Lots of people travel with PA in/out of USA. Otherwise how would the celebrities cope?

Sure but IME a PA would put personal assistant or admin as their usual job on passenger declaration form, not "Nanny", unless their boss has some weird fetish.
