Hi,I just qualified as a 1K for the first time:)I read that I get 6 x System Wide Upgrades (SWU's) as part of the deal. Can someone explain to me the terms & conditions of these? In particular, 1. What class of travel (eg Y, B, H.....) can I upgrade from?2. What's the cut off criteria that ends one upgrade & another must be used. For example, if my sectors were MEL/SYD/SFO/LHR with a stopover of > 24 hours in SFO, how many SWU's would I need?3. Using SWU's (as a 1K) , do I get greater upgrade rights (ie are more seats available for upgrade for 1K's using SWU's) than there are for premier Exec?Any other info/tips that you have would be very useful. Many thanks, john

Hi Maunder, congrats on reaching 1K. You are asking some basic questions which would require dozens of pages to address properly. My advice would be to check flyertalk.com for your detailed questions, and you will get more info than you ever imagined (as a flyertalk newbie, you would be much better off framing your queries using Google and a domain of "flyertalk.com").

But, having said that, SWU's are a wonderful thing. if you're planning to fly to Europe via the US, I think the max layover for a SWU is 12 hours, not 24. I've had a similar issue recently where I have upgraded SIN-NRT-HNL-LAX (with a 23 hour stopover in HNL) and needed 2 certs, 1 SWU and 1 HK49 (confirmed regional).

All the best though...

:)

Oh well, you live and learn...

I would guess more detailed step by step instructions would have been useful and maybe a flow chart...
