Sydney to Las Vegas NYE and farecompare help needed

Hi all,

first of all, apologies in advance as im new here and still trying to get my head around everything.

Ive been reading up on farecompare and have been looking at flights from Sydney to Vegas for nye. Its showing flights on hawaiian airlines each way for around $678 but then once i hit search i cant find them at all.
what does it mean when you start putting the dates in and it shows up prices and then once you hit search its nothing like what it showed up?
how do you book these cheaper prices?

any help/feedback is greatly appreciated.

I'm not at all familiar with the website so can't comment on that, however, there is a massive distinction between valid fares and available fares when it comes to booking.

A fare may be valid for travel during the period you're wanting to go, but at that rate and at that time of year, i'd find it highly unlikely you'd find availability at that price, so it's likely (and as I said I dont know the site so I'm speaking from the point of view of a TA not a site expert) that they're likely advertising valid fares (which is what most sites do) but when you click it, there isn't actually any availability on those dates.
