Hi

We are traveling from Melb to Syd (domestic) then connecting to international to fly to HAwaii (both flying Qantas)

The bookings were made several months ago and since then Qantas has changed the departure time for the Hawaiia flight so it now leaves 1 hour ealier.

The problem is that it now only gives us 1 hr and 15 mins to get from Terminal 3 (domestic) to International terminal. Qantas says that this is a legal connection time.

I have two questions

1) Can we get our boarding passes for the Hawaii flight in Melbourne or do we have to get them in Sydney

2) What is the quickest way to get from terminal 3 to International terminal and how long should this take

Thanks for your help

Ian

1) Yes, no problem there. They will also check your bags all the way to HNL.
2) Follow signs to International Transfer. From memory they leave every 15 min, and take about 5-10 min to get there.

Varies by time of day. Sometimes the free transfer bus runs much less often (up to 30 minute wait).

1 hr 15 mins should not be a problem for you connection. As others have noted, your bags will be through-checked to HNL from MEL, and you will get your QF3 SYD-HNL boarding passes when you check-in at MEL.

The transfer area at the SYD Domestic terminal is opposite gate 2 - just follow the signs. When you get to the International terminal you just go up the escalator and through Immigration control and security.

If you have lounge access at the international terminal (Qantas Club member of QF FF Platinum or Gold status, or travelling business class) you will probably have time for a quick pop into the lounge.

But if you are really concerned about the connection, or would like some time to browse the duty free stores before departure, you could ask Qantas if they will move you an earlier MEL-SYD flight. But that will depend on the conditions of the fare you purchased.

Enjoy the trip.
