2014 Aviation Community Weekend | Sydney Airport
Get Your Camera And Tripods Ready!
Sydney Airport will be hosting its second aviation community weekend next month. We have been busy working in partnership with our stakeholders to ensure this weekend will be memorable!
This year Sydney Airport will be offering two exclusive airfield tours. Both tours will be escorted by our airfield safety vehicle enabling each of you to spend a reasonable amount of time on the airfield to capture aircraft landings and take-offs. The airfield tour will also consist of a tour around the inside perimeter fence.
Canon Australia are on board to offer product demonstrations along with a selection of super telephoto lenses available for use during an afternoon Plane Spotting session from a high vantage point. This session will occur on our corporate office rooftop which has an impressive 180 degree runway view.
After Canon’s product demonstrations, Sydney Airport and YSSY Forum will offer light refreshments and finger food. Continuation of photography is supported however we strongly recommend that each of you take time out to enter the trivia competition. Several of our stakeholders have offered great experiences that will be offered as lucky door prizes after Saturday’s airfield tour and as part of the Trivia Competition in the evening.
All activities will commence on time. Please be at the meeting place 15 minutes before the tour to ensure you don’t miss out on this opportunity.
Sydney Airport will endeavour to adhere to the itinerary, however we reserve the right to alter plans according to security/safety requirements.

Airfield Tour: Friday, 4 April 2014 – 14:30 – 16:30.
Canon Australia: Product Demonstration: Friday, 4 April 2014 - 16:40 – 18:00.
Rooftop Photography and Trivia: Friday, 4 April 2014 – 16:30 – 19:30.
Airfield Tour: Saturday, 5 April 2014 – 06:30 – 09:00 (exclusive to YSSY forum members).
Australian Federal Police (AFP) Presentation on Airport Watch: Saturday, 5 April – 09:30 – 10:30.
Entry Conditions
Each airside tour is strictly limited to 32 adult seats.
Participants must be 18 years or older to participate.
Identification must be brought on the day.
Enclosed shoes, no flip flops.
Participation in the tour will be subject to fulfilling the criteria to receive a VIC pass.
Costing
Sydney Airport will be covering the cost of both airfield tours.
YSSY Forum and Sydney Airport will co-fund catering and beverages for all events.

Weather Conditions
The weekend’s events will go ahead in all weather conditions except in extreme storms (lighting and thunder).
What to bring
For photography on the airfield, you will only require short lenses. Your equipment will be subject to security screening.
For photography on the rooftop you may bring your tripod.
Bring your hat, sunscreen and sunglasses.
Photo identification (driver’s license / passport).
Accommodation

Register your Interest
To guarantee each of you have an equal chance to go airside, please register your interest for either session below.
Registration will be open for the public from Friday, 14 March at 5pm through to Friday, 21 March 9am.
On Friday, 21 March at 10am names will be drawn out at random. Participants will be notified and provided with the required documentation to be completed and returned by Tuesday, 1 April at 10am. Should a participant not provide the required documentation within that time period, the waitlisted applicants will be called upon.
