SYD T3 to T1 International terminal transfer

I've looked on the QF website but cant seem to find too much information so I need to ask of the experts here...

1. I'm travelling J class from BNE to SYD late in the evening and have a J class International flight out early the following morning.
2. I am staying overnight at the new Rydges hotel which is on the grounds of the international terminal.

The question I am asking is...As I am flying both trips on QF can I use thier transfer bus to go from the domestic terminal to the International terminal on my arrival into SYD on the evening I arrive. Once at the international terminal I was just going to walk across the road to my hotel, stay the night and be back early for my overseas flight in the morning.

Then train for $5 is on offer if QF say no. In order for them to say yes I suspect a boarding pass will be required for the next day.

Yes I sort of thought that too markis. I was hoping I could wing-it and say I still had to check-in because it was on separate bookings etc as I wave my inward boarding pass at them and just be sort of rushing and flustered etc

You wouldn't be able to take the QF shuttle bus if you have checked luggage as your bag will only be checked to SYD due to your overnight stop so you will need to collect your bag at SYD T3.

You can't take checked luggage on the QF shuttle bus. If you only have hand luggage then I don't see any issues with that.

I you did have HLO you could OLCI however you don't gave to present a boarding pass to use the shuttle bus.

Eg BNE QF SYD AC YVR same day & bags have been thru checked in BNE to YVR - pax obtains the SYD/YVR boarding pass from AC at the international terminal after they get off the shuttle bus.

It may be moot as I believe the last Bus departs Domestic T3 Gate 15 for T1 at 9:00pm.

Are you saying that I cant take my 2 suitcases, which I will collect after arriving at T3 and take them with me to the bus. In other words the bus only allows carry-on bags only. Or have I read your reply wrong.

Sorry, I have misled you. My inward arrives 7.30pm. For us oldies that is late evening LOL

You catch the bus airside, they wont allow checked luggage size bags through security to get to the transfer point.

Ok I follow, I cant collect my baggage and then proceed to the bus. The transfer bus is only for persons who have through checked thier bags.

In my case I have 1 booking and PNR number for my DOM flight from BNE to SYD and another booking and PNR number for my INT flight from SYD to SCL. The Dom flight was made by me on the QF website and the INT flight was made by an agent direct with the airline.

I'm thinking i'm stuffed. Lug everything downstairs and pay the $5 each for the train.

Thr Rydges Hotel have a free shuttle bus that departs the hotel on the half hour from 0600 to 2300 so pickup timea would be approx 5-10 minutes after that from T3.

After disembarking your flight proceed downstairs then after collecting your bags head out the front of the terminal to the transfer buses area. Your bus will be clearly marked "Rydges".

Thanks beachbabe, I thought that was the case but I emailed Rydges to enquire about the shuttle and they told me that they do not run a shuttle of there own and to use a public service. I thought it was strange at the time hence this question here.

That's weird. I actually rang the hotel direct & was told the info by a very helpful staff member - I think her name was Alex. I did specify from the domestic terminal T3 to Rydges. Guess we'll know next week for sure.

Thanks oz, Just made a phone call to the hotel direct. Also spoke to a helpful lady whose name was Alex and she confirmed your details exactly. Obviously the person who answered my email last week wasnt up to speed, which is a bit naughty but then it is a brand new hotel and this person may well have been in a central office which may well be in outer Mongolia or someplace similar.

Just wondering, how did you go? Is the bus a relatively easy process?

I was talking with my brother because he is doing the same thing later this year and is an infrequent flyer. QF dom to SYD -> overnight at Rydges -> QF int the following morning. He will have checked luggage and it is a relief that I have learned Rydges offer a free dom shuttle bus.
