just saw this today, and i was amazed.
cathay's asiamiles programme having a sale, and until end of march, you can get a return flight to singapore from syd or mel for only 30000 miles on british airways club world!
even if you dont have points, i think you can buy the 30000 miles for 975USD.

You can only buy 15000 miles for yourself, but another member can give you more by buying them as a gift!
