Hi All
a family matter means an urgent trip back to the UK in the next few days and I'm struggling to pull an itinerary together. I'm looking for departure on either Friday evening or Saturday from Sydney and arrival into LHR as soon as is reasonable (so no lengthy stopovers) and a flexible return date with less limitations.

I've managed to use expedia.com.br to find a good return flight to Singapore on Saturday (provisionally returning 21st March) for around AU$550 but I'm struggling with the onward leg.

Any suggestions or breadcrumb trails gratefully received. I'm Qantas silver with no other memberships to speak of.

thanks in advance

Have you tried a tool like ITA Matrix? Matrix - ITA Software

You can't book using the site, but is useful for exploring a wide range of options first.

Thanks for the site tip - looking at that now. Seem to have long layovers on the cheapest flights which I guess is no great surprise.

Combination of price and schedule, I'd like to be back by midday on Sunday (UK time) but without breaking the bank. I've already been back once this year but sadly things have deteriorated so another trip is required.

I can see MH ex-SYD for $1900 or BA for SG$1900 ex-SIN.

If price is important, have you looked at elsewhere in Europe, and then trying to get a cheaper intra Europe flight to get to UK? I can see for example QF fares SIN-CDG arriving 7:50am Sunday, returning from LHR for about $1100AUD return (ex-SIN) ... (and you'd earn $140 worth of Woolies/DJs/Myers vouchers in points as a QF silver).

Thanks for everyone's help that replied. I've had to delay the outbound flight until tomorrow but managed to get the QF SYD-SIN return through .com.br for around AU$530 and then the QF SIN-LHR return for approx AU$1070 - overall I'm pretty happy with that deal as it's only a minor inconvenience to route via Singapore and Dubai.
I'm not sure how the reimbursement thing works so if dajop wants to drop me a PM with how much you think is fair, that would be great.

SIN-LHR return for $1070 seems like a good price. Who did you book through ?
