I was lucky enough to grab an F award flight SYD -LHR on QF1 in mid September this year.
Last week I received an email telling me that my flight had been changed to QF 31. My first though was "yahoo - now I get to try F on the A380". But when I checked and confirmed my new booking it is showing QF31 as a 744, and I have the same F seat as before. Seems odd - any thoughts on the reasons for this change so far out?

My other thought - perhaps the change means that the booking may not be recognised as an award - so F points and SC's. Or am I just dreaming?

You could still be lucky as they continue their A380 introduction on routes but others will probably know the exact likelihood of that. Looks like the majority of QF31 flights are now on the A380 so you never know. You should be able to check the fare bucket your ticket falls under on the my bookings or any Amedeus look up system. While it is unlikely at this point but it does happen at the airport then you can find yourself on a full commercial fare C or J fare as staff throw you in whatever is left from yield management - certainly fun to arrive and find yourself auto credited for such flights.

Either way, you're flying First...
