SYD-DFW Award J

I am hoping to book award seats in J from Sydney to Dallas next May returning June . I am only bronze status so would anyone have advice at how long out will these seats become available . I can only see them on May 2nd whereas a friend who is silver can see availability on 23rd. I check everyday but none seem to be appearing . Should I transfer points and get friend to book or wait for release to bronze ff. Thanking you in anticipation of your help.

CarolAB, I am no expert on redemptions, but just for your info, as a platinum I can see 9 different dates available in May 2017 for SYD-DFW in J. So clearly there are reward seats. But the intricacies of when they are released to different member levels is beyond me
