Switch from Altitude Platinum to Earth Platinum

Has anyone succefully switch from Altitude Platinum to Earth Platinum with the annual fee waived or reduced?

I called up the Earth service desk, and ask them I want to switch and request to have annual fee waived or reduced to Gold level, they said they can't do it. I said I have read in some forum if my spending is over a certain amount, the anual fee is waived automatically. The helpdesk person said the platinum card doesn't have any of that.

I've switched between products a heap of times painlessly. You should get the fee waived before moving!!

Ive heard you need to do at least 150k pa to get the fee reduced and 250k for it to be removed. Also depends on the transaction types and other factors too

Looks like I can only wait for the promotion and apply instead of switching.
