Whilst talking of cruises we have also booked Regal Princess from Civitavecchia (Rome) to Sydney via the Suez Canal starting on 17th November 2020. Forty Six nights this one. This is similar to one we did last year when we had to bypass Petra. On that occasion the Jordanian Government had closed Petra due flash flooding the day before we arrived and in which twelve people died and many more were injured.

So far we only know of two people doing the same trip as us and two others doing Singapore to Sydney.

Really nice itinerary with some excellent ports of call. Do you join the cruisecritic roll calls?

Lots of interesting ports there! And traveling through pirate seas always adds a bit of interest.

Yes. To a degree. Unfortunately there are (sometimes) too many self serving people on there which spoil the fun for many others.

We’ve organised quite a few excursions through Cruise Critic. And have organised another one for our Alaska cruise in May. The roll calls are a bit quiet for Viking though.

I am glad your experiences have been better than ours. On our last trip from Southampton to Singapore there was one “gentleman” who turned out to be a professional shonk. By trip end there were many who wanted to throw him overboard.

Sure, there are some posters you just know you need to avoid. I met love_the_life through CC when we did our first QM2 cruise. Oh, did I not heed my own advice? :D

We did Rome-Dubai in late 2017 through the Suez with Celebrity, fabulous cruise. Did a private tour to Petra through CC, great guide and it was certainly a highlight. We loved all the Middle Eastern ports of call. You look like you have a great itinerary.
