Sudanese jet hijackers want to fly to Paris

Hijackers who forced a Sudanese plane to land in Libya have demanded that it be refuelled so that it can fly on to Paris, Libya's state news agency Jana said, quoting the head of the airport at Kufrah.
"The pilot relayed to the aiport head that the hijackers do not want any negotiations and they have only one demand, that the plane be refuelled to go to Paris," Jana added, quoting Khaled Sassiahead, head of the airport in south-eastern Libya.
The hijackers asked for maps to guide their flight path from Kufrah to Paris, it added.
"The pilot also informed the airport director that the hijackers numbered 10 before he came back to say their number could be more than that," Jana said.
The hijackers dismissed offers by Libyan authorities to provide the passengers with food.
"The hijackers (also) rejected the airport request that passengers who had fainted because of inadequate air conditioning in the plane be given medical treatment," the agency said.

Sudanese airline hijacking ends peacefully

A daylong standoff between Libyan security officials and a pair of Sudanes hijackers ended Wednesday with the surrender of the suspects and release of the hostages.

The two hijackers had commandeered a jetliner from Sudan's Darfur region and diverted it to a remote desert airstrip in southern Libya, reports The Associated Press.

The hijackers were asking for asylum in Libya. It was unclear whether the Libyans granted the request, reports The AP.
