As most of us have some kind of credit from AMEX travel, if booking a hotel room e.g SPG/MR/HH etc, will these count towards stay/night quota? What bout member benefits?

Thanks

Wont count for hotel stays or points as it is essentially a third party booking. You may be lucky and get status benefits but this is less common than it used to be

Third-party bookings do not have a blanket exclusion on stay credits, as an example bookings at SPG hotels made through Virtuoso give full stay credit.

That is one of the advantages of virtuoso (which is seen more like a corporate TA) but won't apply with amextravel as far as I know

One poster has previously reported being able to get stay credit by booking with Amex Travel over the phone. I did the same with my Explorer travel credit at Conrad London. No Hhonors points awarded or stay/night credit, but I did get status recognition including room upgrade and lounge access.
