Hi All,

Received the following email from IHG this morning:

Dear Ruth,

We understand that you have choices when it comes to hotels. Still, you’ve continued to stay with us regularly. To show our appreciation for your loyalty, we’re making it easy for you to maintain your Platinum Elite status in 2014. Simply stay 3 more nights by December 20, 2013, to receive another year of Platinum Elite benefits, including complimentary room upgrades, guaranteed room availability (72 hours in advance), a 50% bonus on base points and more.

We look forward to rewarding you with Platinum status again in 2014.

Sincerely,

Don Berg
Vice President, IHG Rewards Club
InterContinental Hotels Group

Ok so I achieved Plat. like I'm sure many have - a few targeted stays with lots of promo codes. I've achieved Gold for 2014 based on nights this year as I did an overseas trip with lots of reward nights.
I don't have any legitimate use for the 3 nights required above between now and Dec. 20 however I would yield around 45k pts of Big Win bonuses if 2 of the 3 nights are at a Crowne & Intercon (wouldn't get the actual Big Win though).
I'm based in Sydney so would have to be local to Syd or Terrigal would be ok as that's where my folks live. I also have 1 BOGOF PP cert left which I could potentially use.
I don't necessarily have a lot of travel planned for 2014 - no overseas trips at this stage so it would just be for any domestic ones I take.

What does everyone think? Is it worth it?
And if it is - what is my best strategy for achieving this? I'm a PP member and as I said have 1 BOGOF cert to use, weekends are preferable as I would actually stay though could do a mattress run if worth it.

Thanks all in advance!

If you can make use of it to visit the folks it could be a bit of fun.

I'm still stoked at the suite upgrade we got at the CP Auckland last week and with that Asa my last experience I'd say it'd be worth the 3 nights for another year of platinum!

I received my Gold elite card for 2014 and then a couple of days later got an email offering the same deal for Elite gold status. Not worried about this one, I'll maintain my HHonours Diamond for 2014 so that's all I'll need.
