Hi all

I just had a chat with an ex-CX crew based in SYD (CX is closing AUS bases).

That made me wonder (and I was unable to find related threads), what is the status of QF’s London based (A380) crew?

Are they still employed by Qantas and stood down or were they let go? Presumably they would not qualify for Canberra’s aviation sector subsidies?

Does anyone have any insights?

Further to that, why hasn't a company come up with a way to operate crew bases in different locales on behalf of multiple airlines, similar to how ground handling is outsourced? I mean, other than unions and different regulations per airline, having a global company that operates in multiple markets and allows you to allocate crew as you need them would surely be cheaper than setting up a dedicated crew base?

The one I know is being recalled to operate repatriation flights.

They were considered furloughed by the UK Govt so received quite a generous percentage of their salary for months.
