Hi all,

I've sort of asked this question as part of another question in the direct velocity question section but it doesn't seem like their staff are monitoring there anymore.

I'm new to this whole points and status thing and just wanted to confirm how many status credits I will earn for an upcoming return flight Darwin to Tokyo via Singapore with Silk Air and Singapore Airlines. The flights are H class. My wife is point and status pooling to me and is on the same flights.

So Singapore to Tokyo is 3312 miles according to Virgins calculator. The calculator doesn't work for Darwin to Singapore for some reason, but google says it is 2083 miles. The 2 flights are separate flight numbers, and the same for return. The velocity status table says full fare economy (which apparently Singapore and silk air H class are) for 1501-3000 miles is 40 credits and 3001-5000 is 60 credits.

Will I therefore receive 100 status credits between Darwin to Tokyo and then the same for return? For a total of 200 credits per person? 400 on my account with my wife's pooling? Already have 50 status credits on my account and trying to get to gold. 500 is all that is needed for gold and 4 eligible sectors? Obviously these sectors don't count as eligible sectors. Already have 2 on my account and I am flying return to Brisbane on Virgin in March so should get 2 more sectors then. Will I then be gold?

Cheers,

David

I think your calcs are correct, so 200SC each Darwin-Sin-Tokyo return. H class is Economy earn

I think it's a great earn rate for SC. Having done HBA-MEL-SIN-HKG return for 240pts a few times, it's great for status requal.

Thanks guys :) exciting to be able to get to gold after only a few flights. No idea why I didn't get into these points/status earlier. On average I do 1-2 big overseas trips a year and at least 2-3 interstate flights. Living in Darwin with my family in Brisbane and my wife's in Sydney adds up to a fair few flights. Have never bothered to stick to one carrier and as a result never earned any status. Could have been gold for years it seems with not much change to my spending, maybe slightly more but not significant. The good thing is if I get gold as planned by middle of the year, I should be able to maintain it fairly easily next year. Going to Europe on Singapore early next year in Premium Economy which will net us 640 status credits alone by my calculations. Then will just have to do a return flight to bris and to Sydney to get the sectors.
