Hello All,

Have been following for quite time but this is the first post and hoping for your learned assistance.

My wife is a gold and on not far from platinum. Currently on the way back from europe. Her QF itinerary has her coming back to Oz from Rome via a flight to Frankfurt. Now, that Frankfurt flight shows up on her itinerary as being operated by Lufthansa. A quick calc of her SC's for the trip has her getting to within 30 SC's of platinum not including the Frankfurt leg - the trip home in J gets 280 SC and she needs 310. My question is, will the Lufthansa flight (booked through QF) earn SC's (would be 40) that would tip her over the edge?

Should add that the anniversary date for SC's is 31 May...

Thanks in advance for your thoughts, always enjoy the entertaining reading you all provide.
Matt.

Hmm - a bit unclear here.

Where are the 280 SCs coming from? and why would booking through QF get you an extra 40?

Basically, if the flight is with a QF flight number (regardless of who is operating), you will get SCs (whether that be at the discount economy rate, or the business rate). If the flight has an LH flight number, then no SCs.

Thanks AC.

280 SC for two legs in J to get home Frankfurt to Hong Kong (160) and Hong Kong to Australia(120).

Perhaps I wasn't completely clear, we thought that the flight was booked through QF, for travel with QF, all the way home hence accruing SC's all the way along. Only now realising that the Rome to Frankfurt leg wasn't one world. It was a mystery as to why she had to go through Frankfurt at all as she didn't get there that way.

May need to send her on a quick JASA to pick up the 30 SC's?

Qantas doesn't fly direct from Rome to Hong Kong, rather from Frankfurt or London. Somewhere along the booking time decision must have been made by whoever booked the tickets - your wife, presumabaly, that she wanted (for SC reasons, it seems) to fly only by Qantas.

Mind you, if she had booked with OneWorld ticket, could she could have flown without the Lufthansa episode direct to Hong Kong from Rome via Cathay: but without the SCs, of course.

Was left to an agent to book the flights and no thought given to SC's, assume they decided this was the quickest way back? Odd. Only now that I had a look at how close she was to getting the next level did the SC come into consideration.

Appears that the answer to get to Platinum is to do a quick trip. Plenty of threads on that one here, so will start the search. Thanks for clarifying people.:)

You'd get SC's flying on CX.....
