Hi,

Long time lurker, first time poster. Did a search but couldn't find the answer i'm after.

Current VA Silver on 320SCs for this year. Have an upcoming trip to Europe which will give me 300SCs all up (120x2 + 30x2) and bump me into gold :p. Now I understand that to maintain Gold I need to accumulate another 400SCs in the 12 months from being made gold. Question is that seeing as though after this trip i will have 620SCs all up will the 120SCs over the 500 count towards the 400 or will only the SCs that hit my account once I have been officially made gold count ie are there some SCs that you can earn that effectively become redundant once you click over to a new status??

Hope you all understand what i'm asking and appreciate any feedback

Thanks

Europa,

I think from memory Velocity implemented a rolling drop if SC, so every 12 months from the date you earn the SC they start to drop off, this is in lieu of an annual clean wipe.

I could be wrong though...

Ok so say if by the time I reach Europe I'm on 470SCs. Then on the first leg of my return journey i was to accumulate another 120SC for a total of 590SC. This then triggers a 'review date' of the day when the 120SC hits the account as this is when I upgrade to Gold. Assuming that the SC all hit my account in the same time order that I accumulate them will the 90SC that I am over the 500SC limit then count towards the 400 balance for the following year or will only SCs that hit after the review date (i.e the reminaing 30 for the final leg home which I assume wouldn't hit until the next day or so) count towards the 400?? confused yet?

Pretty sure that once you hit gold, your maintenance date changes to that date, so any sectors earned after that attain date will count for your maintenance... hopes that makes sense and is correct... ah, stuff it, graphics/lists are always easier:

Assume Current expiry date 12/6/2012
Current SC 320

Fly 16/4/2012 - earn 120 - Gold attained
New expiry date 16/4/2013
Fly 15/5/2012 - earn 120 - SC Total 120
Fly 26/6/2012 - earn 30 - SC Total 150

Does this make more sense... again, I am pretty sure this is how it works as this is what I saw, but this may have been while they were readjusting to the new calulation methods, so worthwhile calling & confirming.

Welcome EUROPA!

As alluded to above, only SC accrued after achieving Gold are counted towards your requal. So if you 'overshoot' the 500SC attain mark because it's a long-haul international, anything over and above the 500 is not counted towards requal.

Where it gets confusing is that it would be counted in establishing whether you're eligible for platinum during a rolling 12-month period.

Does that make sense?

And to add more confusion, your status upgrade and new review date won't happen until a day or so after those qual SCs land in your account, so perhaps even a flight a day later may also not count toward requal.

If you log on to your velocity account and go to SC section there is a > next to the points accumulated click on that and it will list all your SC drop off dates , really handy
