hi, what is defined as a status credit "12 month period" ie. is it 22nd April 2011 until 22nd April 2012 ie inclusive of the dates of 22nd April of both years?

Up until 22nd April 2012 I had 471 status credits, so I flew 22nd April 2012 flexi and got my 30 status credits, which would have put me at 501 status credits on 22nd April 2012. However the process date for my flight on 22nd April 2012 was 24th April 2012, 2 days later, so my status credits have dropped back and I'm now back to 471 status credits.

Any ideas? Is Virgin's computer intuitive enough to realise the difference between activity date and process date?

I'd say it has picked up the activity dates. So the period you are looking at is from 22 April 2011 to 21 April 2012.

22 April to 22 April is actually 1 year and 1 day. So I reckon the activity should have been needed on 21 April 2012 to qualify for a 12 month period that started on 22 April 2011.

However, if my calcs are correct, given today is 24 April, you should be on 481 credits not 471 (assuming the 20 SCs from 22 April 2011 have now dropped off the rolling 12 month window).... ??

As best I can tell, credits accrue on the basis of Process Date and drop off on the basis of Activity Date.

Send the VA rep here an email with your Velocity number for them to look into.

I had similar situation last year and all was fixed up through the VA rep here after a pm.

After reading the OP again you have missed it by that much. Year will be 22/4/11 to 21/4/12 or 23/4/11 to 22/4/12. Maybe plead your case with VA (any future bookings?) but don't expect to win.

So you are saying that in the case of Etihad etc, where it can take 3 Months to get SC posted, from the time the activity occurred, that you really only have a 9 month year ??? Thats piss poor if thats the case. Expiry should be 12 months after they post, seeing cough though certain sections are so Tardy in posting. I think I would feel slightly ripped off should that happen to me.

The reason I booked it on the 22nd April, was because once logged into the velocity rewards website, under My Account -> upgrade to Gold (show detail)

it used to list (prior to 22nd April):

Activity Required on or before ................. Status credits based on the last 12 months .......... Status credits required to upgrade to Gold
22nd April 2012 ...................................... 471 ............................................................ 29

Unfortunately now it's the 24th April so the above headings now list:

27 May 2012 .......................................... 481 .............................................................. 19

I should have printed out that little window, because I was simply following what they velocity website was instructing me to do to get to gold!

PS Mogul, who is the Virgin Rep on this website? Thanks.

this is my current upgrade path... 12 months ago my last status credits activity was 27th May 2011 (given April 22nd has passed)...so judging from the screen here, it would appear their computer gives you between 27th May 2011 and 27th May 2012....dates inclusive....if my understanding is correct .... or maybe their computer tells you that but processes 1 day short...ie 27th May 2011 to 26th May 2012

Velocity have been very receptive in rewarding genuine people trying to earn status (let's face it, they were throwing around status to anyone who had a card that might be a FFer card......my neighbours guide dog got plat when they mistook it's council dog registration tag as a FFer card). I doubt you'll have any problems with this if you contact VA or VFF members here on AFF.

Impressive all that business going to velocity on purchases.
Didnt realise ebay awarded points!
