I have Avianca Diamond for *A Gold but that expires later this year. Are there any match programmes going on out there I can use to continue being *A Gold?

*A airlines are unlikely to match from other *A airlines.

The other factor of course is if you aren't travelling enough to maintain Diamond with Avianca...why would another airline grant you the status?

I would check statusmatcher.com for the latest. Maybe try Turkish or Aegean, I dunno.

It does happen, although less these days. They don't know you are travelling less with the airline you want to match (or perhaps never flown if its already a status match!) The theory is that you seem to be a high flier and they want to tempt you across.

I got Avianca Brazil Diamond matched to QFF Plat just to get status on Star Alliance when I had some whY flights coming up on Turkish.

If you are desperate Avianca always sell *A Gold memberships - about USD 2.600 IIRC

......I got Avianca Brazil Diamond matched to QFF Plat.....

Do they do that? Interested to know how Avianca handle their status matches - I am rapidly heading for a situation of top-tier status with LATAM and QF, but may lose my Avianca Lifemiles Diamond in the next year....

They have an on going status match offer, sadly they won't match OWE but OWS is better than nothing, a way around the regional requirements is set a business address to you home address and find some random address in europe (preferably germany or england)

Qantas outright matched you? To Platinum?

No, other way round, Avianca Brazil matched me to their Diamond level when I showed them my QFF plat. There's a thread on it; one of the greater efforts to get the match and then the card.

Then how do you get your hands on the physical card?

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

You could always match to OW or ST - AirBerlin's topbonus will match *G to OWS

I tried this late last year, using my Avianca Amigo Platinum I tried to match to Air Berlin and got no where, they said the program was only open to those in certain countries and I couldn't work out how to fool their profile system as it seems to verify the address off a social security number for German residents (they ended up emailing me asking for my details and I had no way to provide them).

I matched VA Platinum and had a EU address with AU business address, They asked for proof so I sent them my Italian passport

I'd be keen to do this too as my Etihad status is expiring soon. But presumably we'd need a European passport of some description for it to work?

They status match to US and Europe, i'm not sure how to get around it without a EU passport but you could always try to

Your profile adress needs to be in a country they currently match from. Trying to have the card send to Australia via the buisiness adress will most likely cause problems.
