Heading to the USA this week for World Cup... son and I are flying on different flights (both on SA airlines - he on United, me on AirNZ) leaving 30 min apart. Long story as to why, but whatever. I have SA Gold. Can I guest him into SA lounges even though he is on a different SA flight? I've read a couple of sites, one implies yes as long as he's on any SA flight, and another implies that guests must be on exactly the same flight. Does anyone have first-hand experience with this?

Technically, same flight rule applies, but you may get lucky.

You are entitled to bring one eligible guest travelling on the same Star Alliance flight departing from the local airport.
