I have been a Miles & Smiles Elite (*G) member for the last few years, thanks to what I've learnt from the good people here on AFF :) I have a small number of miles in my account and was considering using them for some non-TK Star Alliance intra-Europe flights (or let them lapse). The TK website is a bit clunky when it comes to redemptions and seems to require downloading a Word Doc, completing it then taking it to a Turkish Airlines Sales Office with ID and your member card! Has anyone else had any experience with this? How do they compare with other *G airlines when it comes to the taxes and fees for award tickets?

Well the moon must be in Saturn, whilst Aries is rising, or some such junk, because I have just made a successful TK award booking!

SYD-AKL-PPT return for the family and I in December. 30K miles + ~AUD280 pp return in whY (it would be an even greater miracle if NZ released J cabin space to *A partners). I'm TK E+ (*G) so will enjoy the NZ lounges enroute and access to some hopefully little better Y seating (Skycouch rows - but without using that functionality I believe). On B772, 789, 789, 773 for the flights and usually *A award bookings translate across into NZ speak as a works fare; or so I have read from UA Mileage Plus forum on FT.

It took 11 emails, 7 days and 3 attempts at payment to make it happen, but I have a booking ref and etickets. Excuse me for a moment whilst I go and do a happy dance. Oh and for those with a masochistic side, the TK program is a doddle, join now...
