Hi I have the following booked on NZ metal later in the year:
Sydney to Auckland (T) Economy
Auckland to Queenstown (V) Economy
Queenstown to Auckland (V) Economy
Sydney to Auckland (Z) Business

I'm looking to credit to Asiana, but the wording in the accrual table is quite confusing:

Asiana
V : 100% → 0% : Tasman and the Pacific Islands (100% of miles are earned for long-distance international sections and domestic sections)
W, T : 100% → 0% Long-Distance International Sections (excluding Tasman and the Pacific Islands) Only: 100%
※ Tasman: New Zealand - Australia
※ Pacific Islands: Apia, Nadi, Noumea and Parpete

It looks like Turkish and Singapore have the same policy but uses different wording to explain it:

Turkish
W, V: Not valid for flights between New Zealand, Australia and Pacific Islands
T: Not valid for flights between New Zealand, Australia, Pacific Islands and New Zealand domestic flights

Singapore
W, T classes are not eligible for accrual on domestic, Australia and Pacific Island flights.
V class is not eligible for accrual on Australia and Pacific Island flights.

From this I understand that I probably won't earn anything on the Sydney Auckland leg, being T class on a trans-tasman route. However, I will do going the other direction in Z business.

Where I get confused is on the V segments between Auckland and Queenstown. It was sold as one ticket i.e Sydney to Queenstown so does this mean it is considered to be a domestic or trans-tasman segment? It looks like you get the accrual if it is a domestic route but not if trans-tasman.

Appreciate it if anyone has had experience with this before.

Earning on most *A programmes is per flight, so you should get miles for the flights between Auckland and Queenstown.

According to the information here (Mileage for Star Alliance│ASIANA AIRLINES) I’d suggest you’ll earn for all four sectors.

I thought so too at first glance. That's the webpage I was quoting, looks straight forward from the accrual table, but confusing from the notes underneath (which I copied into original post).

Ahhh, sorry, was looking off my phone and didn't notice the notes underneath.

The way I read it is T class doesn't accrue for long haul, but does accrue for Tasman. And V class doesn't accrue for Tasman, but does accrue for domestic/long haul.

Yeah need to be super careful with Asiana accruals, this is the second booking it looks like I won't get what I originally expected!
