Hello,
This is my first post on AFF as I have just started to travel internationally and after years of reading trip reports gushing go experience the pointy end of the plane.
I am moving to Germany in July and am making my way from Melbourne to Bangkok via Hong Kong in J class with CX. Then on to Frankfurt via Colombo with UL.

My question is, with all the flights Ive taken in the last year and my flights to asia (my partner is in the J on the flight too) I may have a chance of making QFF gold.

With UL's entry in to OW this year would I be able to credit the points from this J flight once they are initiated?
Or wont that be possible as they weren't a member when the flight took place.

I know it will be hard to know as they aren't initiated yet but does anyone have any examples from when MH joined.

You can generally only credit flights taken after an airline joins an alliance

If they aren't a member until after the flight, you wont be able to, if you assume it'll be the same as when MH joined OW recently, that said it's all speculation until it happens. But I'd put the odds very low.

That said, if they join before you fly, you'll probably be fine unless QF wants to exclude specific classes of Business.

Has there been any update of when UL is expected to join OW, I saw that QR was expected in October. But have seen nothing in regards to UL.

Sri Lankan has been mentioned as joining Oneworld early 2014 so still a fair way to go.

MH was announced in June 2011 and ended up joining on 1 Feb 2013 (19 months).
Similarly Kingfisher had a 18mth period before its last minute abort and demise.

Both QR and UL were announced in June 2012
Was mention in AusBT that QR was targeting for October, so suspect by lack of mention that UL is on a more standard time.

If I was betting I would say
QR 1 Oct 2013
UL 1 Feb 2014
