Just done a flight from Singapore to LHR via Colombo in J with UL, couldn't fault check in Sin, flight was real good great service and meals, had a 2 hr layover in Colombo went to the Lounge and the food and drinks could not be faulted in fact I would put it amongst the best, the flight from Colombo to LHR was on there new A300 with the herringbone J layout, this has to be one of the best flights we have flown, food service, drinks were as good as you get on any airline and couldn't be faulted, a greet experience for the price you pay, keep up the good work UL, looking forward to the return trip in July.

Thank you for sharing this. I am seriously looking at booking a flight with them in J on the exact same route.

This was amazing, it blew us away,we have flown in J with QF and EK and to be honest this was on par if not better, the food selection in the lounge was as good as Sin QF lounge and the food on the flight from Colombo to LHR was again excellent and plenty to choose from it ranged from western to Asian , we had the chicken breast with vegies and couldn't be faulted, arriving at London was given fast track through immigration to pick up bags etc then the free chauffeur pick up was waiting, you get a free ride within a 50 mile radius of Heathrow, we went to Southampton as we are getting on a cruise on Saturday so we had to pay an extra 40 pound but we knew that before we left OZ, we would CERTAINLY RECOMMEND Sri Lankan, we did the same rout with them 2 yrs ago and there were a few " teathing problems but not major, things like when boarding came it was ALL together, now J get first priory and so on,.UL have certainly lifted the bar.

We will go Singapore to Rome via Colombo the week after next, having gone Singapore to Heathrow return last year I'm really looking forward to it. The lounge in Colombo is small and the shower situation isn't great, but the food available more than makes up for it imo.

Yes the CMB lounge showers are not good. And the general seating furniture is pretty awful too. But the food choice is extensive and there is a bar and a proper dining area and a relax area and lots of staff to take care of you.

Tip for the showers: Ask to use the disabled bathroom (if it's free). On one visit they told me to go there. It's separate and quite roomy. And ask for 2 x towels because they don't provide more than just a single towel! (meaning a floor mat and a hand towel is missing)

My daughter and I travelled in May, SIN-CMB-LHR on a promo 1-way business class fare, which came to a grand total of less than SGD 1,000 each. As noted above, the flight and service were really good. We returned from Europe on the TG 380 in business class and the UL flight was certainly just as good. Both were in fact really excellent.

Now, however, when I check UL's website I can't find a 1-way fare for less than $2,000. At that sort of price, they're off my Christmas card list for now. At the moment, you can get a SIN-Europe business class return ticket for less on VN.

Before the increase SIN-LHR in J was about SGD$1000-1250 one-way or about $2.5K return. Now closer to $4K return I believe.

This was amazing, it blew us away,we have flown in J with QF and EK and to be honest this was on par if not better

I guess UL had advantages with Tim Clark being the managing director of it between 98-08 with the 10 year management deal EK had in operating and managing UL until it was handed back in 08 at the end of the deal.
