SQ286 AKL-SIN Delays

The video is interesting.

My bet would be asymmetric power increase. He hasn't waited for all of them to accelerate up from idle, before pushing the levers to FLEX (or TO/GA). The 380 is prone to it (different acceleration rates on each engine) and the aircraft doesn't protect against it, whilst the Boeings do. The yawing moment will totally overpower the nose gear.

I'm surprised the crew had duty hours left after 7hr delay. Guess it depends on how many flight crew they were carrying etc.

I don't know what rules they use. It would almost certainly be planned as a 3 man operation, but under our laws extension to the 18:47 (or so) that they've done wouldn't be allowed without a 4th pilot. On the other hand, a delay that long, might just about allow the crew that brought it in to operate out.
