Am firmly of the view that one general thread regarding all failings of SQ Website long overdue so am happy to kick it off.

Needed to book o/w J Saver PEK-MEL for Mar 31, 2014 but when I search on SQ Website following alternatives appear:

pek-mel 2.JPG
pek-mel 3.JPG
pek-mel 4.JPG

But the following combination is what I actually wanted:

pek-mel 1.JPG

One simple call to SQ / KF call centre - 02 9350 0203 soon got it sorted and they honoured the 15% online saving - 61,625 KF Pts + S$400.80.

I just find the SQ website ridiculously slow and clunky.

That spinning blue donut ring is the bane of my existence every time I use that website.

People b**** and moan about the VA or QF websites - complain as you will, but also know there is at least one website which is worse.

The SQ website, in general, is also quite thin on good, solid information about Singapore Airlines, their services and support.

Has anyone noticed the mobile app sometimes has more redemption availability than the website. I have been following a few LHR-MEL flights for next year and nothing on the website for days but 3 F saver choices on the app:confused:.
On an up coming trip back to MEL from FRA I actually used the iDevice to book the trip as again nothing on the website but 2 F saver options on the app.

The app is a bit clunky aswell as you have to reenter the origin and destination every time you do a new search, even for the same route just swapping the First/Business search option:rolleyes:.

Although it is rubbish that you couldn't book on line, it's good to know they honoured the online saving when you booked by phone. I am checking out some flights for next year andwas having similar issues. And I am sure the alternatives between desktop and mobile are different too!

Needing to book LHR-SIN-MEL, but can never get one of the LHR-SIN flights to show (the one with the new 777W) but it shows if you book LHR-SIN-MEL

Will need to ring I guess

Exactly - find a glitch - jump on the blower - ALL KF call ctr reps are fully aware of web site failings and IME honour 15% savings without blinking.

Try the CX website. Terrible.

Have to say I haven't tried it for a few years now. That last time I did so it seemed alright. What happened to it?

I see a lot of new airline search engines trying to incorporate what seems like some new web design concepts (supposedly related to user experience / user interaction), as well as greater UI acceptance by tablet users.

The massive trade-off they seem to be throwing away is robustness and speed. Why the hell would you give up a pound of speed for a penny of looks? Defies logic, it does.

Yesterday I was looking to book F Saver PEK-MEL for late MAR 2014 - noticed SQ web site now offering sector pairings across 2 days - previously ex PEK if you searched for F Saver say Mar 31 it would only offer flts where both sectors actually departed on that date such as these: (YES screen shots from SQ mobile App)

And:

But now it is offering pairings with PEK-SIN on Mar 31 and SIN-MEL on Apr 1 - yesterday was first time I have seen this.

This means you get to experience FULL F service rather than sleeping one sector - Moblie App indeed offers sector pairings with up to 28hr mini stopover in SIN - a real + IMHO.

I have seen many MEL-SIN-LHR ( or the reverse) pairings with stop overs in excess of 30 Hours in SIN on the mobile app, very rarely if at all on the website

From memory, and confirmed with current search, the website is offerring BKK-SIN-SYD flghts for BKK-SIN early morning or lunch time with SIN-SYD the next morning.

It would be interesting to try the website out on the smartphone to see if there is any difference in availability for the dates I want.

The smartphone is not that smart and the coverage is poor.

The smartphone is not that smart
I know what you mean - I received new iPhone 5S yesterday - has to be dumbest smart phone ever.

Funny thing is - I walk out on to street - hand it to first 10yo kid I can find - phone instantly seems to become an incredibly smart phone - go figure.

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

On the desktop they apply the 'Saver' check logic further down stream. For me I was able tp select the two sectors as 'Saver" but then in a later booking step said it wasn't valid as the stopover was more than 24 hours and needed to have at least one sector at the higher redemption rate.

I'm struggling on a proposed F trip for next year, might try the 'App' availability.

One positive to the SQ website, relative at least to QF, is that you can book online for a flight the day before and seemingly same day too. Currently overseas and need to get home sooner that expected. Was able to book award flights with SQ for the next day but with QF I couldn't even check availability for award bookings online let alone book.

Can confirm that the mobile app works better than the actual website!

Manged to book what I wanted when the website said NO and the call centre said "NO" or "more points"

Haha - 3 bookings in suites in the next 3 months

I am just a tad happy ;) considering my last 7 mid-haul flights have been QF Y it's going to be a slight step up
