SQ Tips, Trips and Tales

Matt_01, check your latest SQ KF statement, if you are a SQ KF member.
I had points due to expire in Jul, as I mentioned above, but they have been extended in life length so to speak, to Jan 2022.
Not sure if SQ is extending the life span of Aussie KF members only, or everyone.
Thanks and I was aware that miles will get extended to sometime in 2022 however I am also considering the longer term to avoid miles expiry and the ability to use them. It all comes down to how many you have and how you plan to use them. I had booked in 2019 for 2020 x2F and x1J SYD-JFK and x3J LAX-ADL, these points have come back and some have been extended. I was also planning to book in 2020 x3J return AU-UK/EU for travel this year, did not happen so I still have these miles. Finally I would have booked this year for travel in 2022 most likely JP/KR to use all the VA points I sent to SQ prior to the devaluation, which will expire in Dec. Sure the points will all be extended to some time in 2022 but trying to burn through these may not be possible and an extension may be the most practical option.

People are just pushing bookings back 12 months. You’ve got to get in pretty quickly when they open up
Sure, but every class, every flight, on every day? People must be super keen to travel from Singapore to Sydney. They stop being keen on 1 August 2022 and beyond when there is heaps of availability. No one wants to return to SIN either, as SYD-SIN is wide open.

At least to me, the signs indicate they are presently limiting redemptions. Probably uncertainty surrounding the arrivals cap.

Don’t think that’s what’s going on here: I was looking to do just that with MEL flights around the end of July so was watching the booking availability closely over the last several weeks as the calendar opened up. A month or so ago there was Saver J availability through the whole of June/July SIN - MEL, and then a few weeks back one morning they just all disappeared. Even revenue tickets—if you try to book a revenue fare on that route any time in July it says no flights available, and J redemptions are all waitlisted across both months. Then from 1 Aug onwards they are back with both revenue and normal redemption availability, (I ended up moving my flight to 1 Aug, only 1 day after the date I was aiming for). When the MEL flights disappeared I looked at other cities and saw that SYD were all waitlisted too (although there are revenue tickets on that route). Wide open to ADL and BNE though.

Not sure what’s going on. Still confirming their schedule for MEL and SYD, maybe?

I could be wrong. But I’m looking at my usual route from South Africa into SIN then SYD and it’s coming up with J saver in August so I’m just assuming June / July is booked out (it is Euro summer season). There may be more to it though.

I maybe getting ahead of myself but are there any links or updates on when TPR will be open, is it 2021/22 or some time to be announced. I have already booked Mrs and MissM in J (rewards) to the UK next year and am considering changing to F/ suites as I have expiring points to burn.

There is R/F rdpt inventory showing?
I will admit it has been a while and have forgotten the SQ fare bucket codes however I can see x2 F redemptions from SIN to EU in the advantage bucket, saver is waitlist. EU to SIN mainly again in advantage, saver is also waitlisted, sure not the best use of points but better than seeing 'not available'. I have been watching the rollover dates and think most of the points I want to use will expire in Mar Apr 22 so am not concerned about the 'advantage' rate I would rather use them than lose them.

Apologies my post was not that clear, my original points booking made in Oct 19 were using points that would have expired in Apr/ May 20 and have been extended once or twice and these are the points I am planning to use a large chunk of.

So if you points have been extended and expire in Mar 22 then from the Krisflyer website:,
This means that all miles expiring between July 2021 and March 2022 will be extended and will only start to expire from April 2022.
So in your case, if I have understood you correctly, your expiring Mar 22 points will now expire in Sept 22.

I was still was not clear enough with my poorly worded comments, I thought the extension was to Mar 22, this was my error as I had not looked at this table in a while @Jacques Vert clarified the date. If I am reading this table correctly I believe my points fall into this category.
