SQ Tips, Trips and Tales

So we have 4x J savers LAX-SIN on the non-stop. Will we be the forum guinea pigs? :p

We are booked on the non-stop SIN-LAX flight in J on 25 December 2020. Although it is the opposite direction, I will be able to provide some feedback if there are interested readers.

Definitely interested to here how you go. We can compare notes afterwards - we are 20 Jan. 3x adults + 1x 7year old.

Are you my doppelganger? We are flying 3 adults and 1 almost 7 year old! Myself, the Gentleman, MasterC and the MIL :)eek:). I am much more nervous about travelling with the MIL than MasterC. Let me know if there is anything specific you are interested in knowing. Other than whether the flight feels interminably long!

Too funny! It’s my MIL coming as well (although a small chance she may not come)! We invited her as unless she comes with us now she will never go. She’s been a bit negative towards it with one of the reasons being the prospect of the US being so far from SIN and being crammed into Y for 20+ hrs to get there. We told her she would be flying J (which she has also never done before) when we saw her last week. That appears to have removed the sardine tin as an issue. :p

No nothing specific, just the usual details to enable me to get suitably scared at the prospect of an 18 hour flight when it’s far too late to change to an alternate option!

My turn soon to get Krugified. I keep it as something I don’t do at home So it is special.
Because Mrscove had Kris Miles near expiry she upgraded one of her favourite sons and his partner into Krugland from the US.

Stop Everything! If everyone is getting Krugified, and its February, does that mean it's Taittinger Comtes next month (March). Someone said they are alternating months.

We've been looking forward to refamiliarising ourselves with the Krug next month. (BTW, "our" seats in F on the WL for SQ12 are taken, so now we slum it in J ;) on SQ36 - No Krug there..... just on our SQ222 segment in Suites).

Sad times robtemt but these are first world issues. We only get the A380 Suites when we go SIN-LHR as it has been the 777 for us to LAX.

Does anyone know if travelling on SQ52 SIN-IAH, do they let you disembark in MAN during the 90minute stopover and access a lounge to shower if travelling in J?

Thinking of booking mother on MEL-SIN-MAN-IAH as part of a points journey to get to FLL for a cruise. If I can tell her she can disembark and freshen up, it will go a long way.

I have chased all my WL a number of times they don’t seem to get irritated and they don’t seem to clear either. If it is inside of 14 days, (I think that’s what it is), they don’t upgrade any more.

How often should I ring and request a chaser to my waitlist before it starts too annoy them? :)

Yes you do disembark and access the Aspire lounge. Can't say I noticed a shower though.

SQ26 SIN-FRA-JFK does have showers in FRA.

As @Comoman mentioned above, you do access the Aspire lounge:

However, I don't see toilets (now showers) in the Facilities section, and confirmed this with the official website of the lounge:
NO TOILET FACILITIES WITHIN LOUNGE
This lounge does not contain toilets. These can be accessed a short walk from the lounge.

Got a slight scheduling problem for an upcoming trip to the US this July... Based in MEL. Booking the awards had no availability out of nor into MEL, so had to settle for SYD.

Flying SYD-SIN-(FRA)-JFK in SQ R, no worries here as can get from MEL to SYD on VA, plenty of options to get to SYD in time for check-in for SQ222 @ 3pm.

However, for the return, flying LAX-SIN-SYD in SQ J, with the SIN-SYD portion on SQ288, scheduled ETA at 8:10pm on a Sunday night. Need to be back at work promptly Monday morning.

Problem is, the final VA flight SYD-MEL is VA894, departing SYD at 9pm. No possible way will we deplane SQ288, collect bags, pass through customs & immigration, as well as transfer terminals, to make it in time for that VA flight.

The safest option seems to be the final QF flight for the day, QF499, departing SYD at 10:05pm, will get us to MEL a tad before midnight.

Any better ideas? Or just plead with SQ to clear my waitlist LAX-SIN-MEL?

Airport hotel and first flight of SYD on Monday morning?

I was just thinking the same
Thanks, but I can only wish that was a viable option. The first flight SYD-MEL is at 6am, arriving into MEL at 7:40am. Need to be in Frankston by 8am, no dice there...
Will just have to have fingers crossed for SQ288 to be ahead of schedule :)

Chuck a sickie!! Or you could blame your 10am arrival into Frankston on Monday on additional screening in SYD which caused you to miss your connection.
