SQ flight on VA flight number, check in question

I will be travelling PER to HKG, but to capitalise on SC, I will be flying PER-MEL-SIN-HKG all on a VA flight number, but the MEL-SIN-HKG will be on SQ metal. Flying in Y. When I check in at PER, I presume my bags get checked through to HKG, but do I get all my boarding passes at that time? Someone told me I need to obtain the SQ leg boarding pass by checking in at MEL. If so, as SG, can I check in at the Business counter? On the return leg, I will be going HKG-SIN-BNE-PER. Again, I presume my bags are tagged through to PER, but do I need to collect the boarding pass for the VA leg in BNE? Also as SG, will the bags be tagged Priority? Thanks in advance.

You will need to proceed to the SQ counters to check in for the SQ services... Bags are checked all the way through however upon arrival in BNE you will have to collect and pass through quarantine and customs and the proceed to the transfer desk.

In Perth they should be able to issue all boarding passes and they will tag your bag through as long as it was all booked on the one itinerary as a formal connection. You may have to go to a different counter if the person you get at check in isn't trained for international connections.

Make sure when coming back to Australia in Brisbane you pick up your bags and go through customs and quarantine. The staff at the transfer desk will take care of your bags again and if the SQ staff couldn't do your PER sector you will get the boarding pass for this at that time.
