Hi guys,
SIA can get a bad wrap, especially from awards customers as I know they have previously focused on customer yield.
I have to say, I have just got back from a 10/10 experience traveling on F-class redemption bookings to Europe.
1: MEL > SIN > LHR (All 777 refitted - First)
2: BER > MUC (Luhftansa - Business)
3: MUC > SIN > SYD (All 777 refitted - First)
Note I am only SQ ES, but I did have a paid return SYD>SIN>ZUR in R-Class A380 in December.
Flights were booked in all SAVER classes just 2 days before departure, I was blown away by this. This includes the Luhftansa segment.
There were maximum 3 people in F at any one time, with minimum 3 crew. Used Book the Cook on all sectors except MUC>SIN as not much was offered. Food was best I have experienced on SIA (better than R-Class).
In Melbourne they didn't give me a TPR Invitation, however when I arrived at Singapore the lovely lady offered to take me to TPR for my 2 hour layover.
Traveling home from MUC, at the airport they gave me an invitation to TPR for my 2 hour layover in SIN.
On all SIA legs, the service was flawless. Better than my experience in R-Class in December. The planes were cleaner (my suite leaving Sydney was pretty dirty in December), crew lovely and everything was just perfect.
So I have to say, I am confused regarding the difference between the Silverkris First Lounge and TPR access. They must be giving all long haul First and Suites customers access these days, regardless of whether it's a paid or redemption ticket. Any insights?
To anyone who hasn't actually flown SIA in a while and worries that the A380 vs 777 experience may be as different as the QF A380 vs 747 experience... the re-fitted 777 product stacks up and is almost as good as the A380, if not better in some areas. The only issue is as SIA adds more A380 exclusive routes (e.g. SIN>LHR as of June) we'll find it harder to get F redemption seats!
