splitting online booking

I'm looking at booking a BKK - SYD J flight for next year. I'd like to be able to get a "stopover" where I do a later morning / early afternoon flight from BKK to SIN and stay over night then do an early morning flight to SYD.

Is there anyway to get the online system to split the flight options, or am I stuck with rining up to book and paying the extra miles?

Funnily enough, I did this just last weekend. Over the phone, and no extra miles (points) required. Changed the connection in SIN to a full day and a half as I wanted to take my son to Universal Studios on our way to our final destination. Agent was extremely helpful and by the end of the telephone call, my online reservation had been updated with the change.

Did you make a booking then change it to include the longer stopover? Was it a saver fare because I thought they don't allow a stopover greater than 24 hours/
