Couldn't find anyone posting this here. Good for a few points at a time and ideal to keep your account ticking over incase you don't credit to it much.

If you are an SPG member and you head to audiencerewards.com and sign up they have a theatre quiz that gives you about 10 starpoints and showpoints each quiz (2 star and show points per question and five questions at a time). It's updated every month or so.

Not huge, but as I said, it may help your account continue to be active.

Thanks, signed up.

Not sure if this will keep the account active as the points do not originate from a hotel.

That's what I was worried about but found this:

Here is the policy by Starwood Preferred Guest:

4.2 Forfeiting Starpoints. Except for SVO Owners to whom the obligations in Section 9 apply, Starpoints earned or otherwise obtained by an SPG Member will forfeit without notice if the SPG Member becomes Inactive, even if the SPG Member has achieved SPG Lifetime Gold or SPG Lifetime Platinum status. An SPG Member is considered “Inactive” if during a 12 month period: (a) the SPG Member has not had an Eligible Stay at an SPG Participating Hotel; (b) the SPG Member has not earned or redeemed any Starpoints, or (c) the SPG Member’s account has been cancelled.

Looks like they have relaxed a bit. My account lapsed past 12 months before adding a few star points and nothing actually happened. Before it expired a CSM told me they would be able to reactivate "once and only once" before forfeiting everything. But never had to plead for it as it wasn't actually deactivated after 12 mths.

If it's through Amex Platinum then I think you're safe.
