Starwood Hotels & Resorts will manage Mr Chong's hotel -- which will be branded as a Four Points by Sheraton Brisbane -- having struck a long-term management agreement with Felicity Hotel, a company controlled by members of the Chong family.

The 246-room Four Points hotel is expected to open for business by January, 2014.

Targeting both business and leisure travellers, the Four Points by Sheraton Brisbane will be housed in a 32-storey city tower fronting 99-103 Mary Street, designed by Brisbane-based Noel Robinson Architects.

Very nice and much needed, finally a decent alternative to the Hilton in Brissy...

Can we please get a few Starwood properties down here, yes? And, even more importantly, some more Hyatt's (or Andaz even- I know I'm dreaming )?

I'm just hoping that this Four Points has good style about it.

Good style in Brisbane (in fact, probably in SEQ) hotels are in very short supply (with some very, very noted exceptions).

Great work SPG.

Now if only IHG could get their act together there'd be decent selection of major brands in Brisvegas.

Re: Four Points Brisbane announced

A Westin was slated years ago...

And it's a brand new building development too.

Didn't realise the Sofitel Brisbane was a former Sheraton. Oh the merry go round nature of Hotel ownership and branding.

Well Starwood said they would be adding hotels in Australia so its good to see this happening. According to the article room size will be 27 square metres.
Given the Four Points in Geelong has rooms at 30 square metres, that seems pretty tight to me.

Fat chance of any more Hyatts. After the loss of the Hyatt Adelaide, Sanctuary Cove and Coolum, I wouldn't hold my breath.

Andaz is about to open Maui as its first resort, but I think it unlikely any will be in Australia.

Yes, in Elizabeth St, opposite the Myer Centre. Starwood even had a website up and running for the Westin Brisbane. Then the GFC hit in 2008, and the developer who was going to build it pulled out. End of hotel. :(

It was opened by Sheraton in 1984, and operated as a Sheraton for 20 years. Starwood was expecting its lease was going to be renewed, and then Thakral Holdings - the owner - announced that Accor had offered it more money to run it as a Sofitel! This was less than a year after Sheraton had done a multi-million dollar refurb ........

Really looking forward to SPG having a player in Brisbane. Seems ridiculous that Brissie lacks SPG and IHG propertiesin 2013. Just as well I like Brissie Hilton

Looks like parking priced at $35 self / $45 valet, according to the website.
Still tempted to stay for the novelty, even in my hometown! :)

Prices are reasonable, but quite considerable variances on the booking matrix date grid correlated with supply & demand of room quotas.

There is nothing special about the Four Points brand that makes it worth staying in your hometown. If SPG will ever open a W or St. Regis then it's another story...
