Received a survey from Velocity this morning, essentially asking for whether I'd be keen to use my Velocity Points on everyday purchases, via a "Points + Pay card".
The rate in the survey was 1,667 Points for a $10 discount. Needless to say, I marked it as extremely unlikely that I'd use it and told them that the Points ratio wasn't worth it. Told them that a better ratio for WP might make it more attractive.
Survey gave some screenshots of what it would potentially look like, so I'd say this may be something for a 2024 release.

The only explanation I can think of for this atrocious rate is that they’re comparing it to supermarket points… flybuys or ERs.

With those, 2000 points = $10, so they think this offer will be very attractive given it’s only 1667 for $10.

Even with the flybuys logic , it would be 1000 velocity ( 2000 fb points) = $10 off any shop .... it's pretty bad and they are insane if they assume people would be inclined to use the offer.

The one thing I think of is that there are reportedly over 11 million Velocity members. Not every one of them (in fact the majority) would be hoarding hundreds of thousands of points - i.e. not everyone is an AFF'er! Some of these members may be interested in such an offer, particularly as the cost of living bites.

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

But not everyone is as educated.

If you are short for cash and have the points, you'd use the points.

you will be surprised in the flybuys forum off fb. One person even said he/she rather use the points for groceries and save money for flights

Recieved the same survey, similar response as above.

I know many who opt for the $10 off, EDR & FB... I slap them silly each time they tell me.

Imagine all, every member hoarded points for J cabins on international trips, we get so little opportunity to grab these reward seats, let the 10buck gobblers take their 10ers.
