Speedy exit through Customs at SYD

Recent arrival saw me directed to lane marked 8 at SYD. Customs straight forward even with declaration of food and medicine.

Same here. I always declare minor items on technical grounds. Never been fined or cautioned in many years of flying helps your cause as well.

The quickest exit is always the green stamp...
Harder to get with carry-on only but if having checked luggage I always find it helps to stand around with your Aussie passport showing.

My only caution was due to a few packaged biscuits that I had grabbed in the BA lounge for an inflight snack and totally forgotten about.

My 2 experiences with Customs have been, WOW that was quick.

First time through Sydney tried to use the Smart Gate or whatever it is called and it did not work, gave me a ticket to see the Immigration guy with no waiting.
Next grabbed my bag and through Customs and declared things I was unsure of.
Got to jump the line a bit and straight to an officer who I told what I had, he said don't bother showing me it OK and I was out of there.

Second time in Melbourne we literally did not stop walking as we came off the plane to exiting the terminal.
(well obviously we did stop, but it was fast).

Would love to hear from an insider here but you get allocated a letter. I also believe if helps if you arrive from the states than same Vietnam, for example. There are higher risk countries to may ange the influx from.
