Edit: Due to a problem, namely stupidity on my part, the price ex Singapore I quoted was actually for one passenger not two:oops:. The correct fare is actually about $5,500 each not $2,750 each.

QR has just sent information on sale prices ex-Singapore for some new destinations. https://www.qatarairways.com/en-sg/offers/new-destination-offer.html . They are Isfahan, Iran & Valetta, Malta. Plus upgraded flights and aircraft to Antalya & Bodrum in Turkey , Malaga, Spain and Mykinos, Greece. There may be similar offers from other Asian ports but I can't find them at the moment.

As an example, I can book 2 X return Business Class fares Singapore/Valetta in September for about $5,500 each. Ex Perth for the same destination/dates they are about $7,500 each.

The question is, is 2 weeks too long for Malta?

I'm looking at Malta! But weren't they already flying there? I didn't look at their schedule but the OneWorld route map showed it, with QR

I didn't check but just took them at their word. Doing a dummy booking in March you appear to have to fly via Rome with the last leg being on Air Malta. Please note that as per my edited post above the price I initially quoted was actually for one ticket not two - that is what happens when you are checking fares with two tabs open:(.

If you like exploring the culture and then a beach scene can be doable.

Can I just say one thing though? Now this might happen to anyone. But an acquaintance of ours and who was chief accountant at Foodland I think it was, attended a conference in Malta with his wife. They attended local cultural presentations. Somewhere along the way he became unwell. He returned home and thought it was the flu and didn’t go to the Dr. His wife later insisted. It was too late. He died from something he contracted in Malta. I have read of disturbing stories about their agricultural methods. More than likely it was bad luck. But it sticks in my mind.

As I type this Oren Klemich is in tears with the announcement of the Streptoccus immunization for teens. VPS would know his son Jack died as an 18 year old. Jack was at school with my son and was a good friend.

Ta - the beach scene is not really our thing so I guess 2 weeks might be a bit long. Plus, because I mucked up the pricing it is still a good price but not a great one.

(I can't find anything about "Streptoccus immunization for teens" on-line. Has S.A or the Commonwealth announce a new approach?)

Yes. Today. World first I understand.

My bad. Meningococcal not streptoccus.

I actually still can't find the announcement but even worse one of the first links bought up was one of those disgusting anti-vaccination sites. Designed to look all official and moderate etc.

I tried searching too and couldn’t find it. It was on the TV. Stupid websites can’t even update.

I spent 8 days in Malta and there is plenty to do. Diving, history, food, water sports, beach etc - 2 weeks is definitely plausible!

The QR service is a good alternative to having to do EK DXB-LCA-MLA (which can't be bought as a QF codeshare)
